Children's Ministry overview
Program Overview:
Every Tuesday evening, after the time of worship, the kids at the
Salvage Yard meet together to learn more about Jesus, living their
lives for Jesus, and sharing Jesus' love with others. A monthly theme
(ex. gratitude or generosity) guides the stories, scriptures and
activities that are shared each week. The curriculum can be found at Family Times.
A community member joins the program one or twice a month to supplement
the curriculum by sharing about a ministry which they are involved with
or by teaching about a skill that they use to care for other people.
They may give the kids opportunities to help out a little during class.
The program is geared toward kids aged 4-11yrs. Younger children are
welcome to participate if an extra volunteer is present- otherwise
parents are welcome to also attend the program. The other option for
parents of younger kids is to listen to the sermon in a one-way sound
room where their kids can play without feeling like they have to sit
too still. :)
Mission Statement:
Children are not just the church of tomorrow- they are the church of
today. Because of this it is our responsibility to provide them with
opportunities for spiritual growth and ministry as well as reinforce
the Biblical teachings of their parents. This will be done through
teaching about Christ using creative activities that are meaningful to
the kids and exploring ministries in the community that will show the
children how God can use each of us where ever we are and with whatever
talents we have.
