Hello Friends and Family!
You know it's winter in Minnesota...
... when you breathe out of your nose and your breath freezes to your beard instantly.
... when everyone around you is so bundled up with layers and layers of clothing and coats, you can't tell what gender anyone is.
... when you warm up your car for a longer period of time than you're going to drive it.
... when your eyes tear up from the cold and your eyelashes freeze together rendering you blind.
... when someone walks by you and increases the wind chill factor by 10.
SHIFT 2009 ( ... as it comes to an end)
Much like the past three years, December creeps up quickly and quietly, bringing with it the end of the SHIFT school. It has really been an incredible three months! We were so blessed to spend it with five unique people who love the Lord in beautiful ways and have grown so much during such a short time. We spent the last month of the school looking at what spiritual gifts we have been given as is laid out in the Bible, how to share our faith with others, and what it means to find our identity in Christ.
To wrap up our “coverage” of what the Lord has been doing in each of the students’ lives, here are Michael and Masha Friedsam:
I would say that Jesus spoke to me a lot through His Word during my day spent with Him on Fridays. I would also say that, during these three months at the SHIFT School, He gave me a heart for His lost children.
During Shift I could see and experience how different God is, that He is much bigger and greater than I tend to think He is. Sometimes I put him in a box, but He doesn’t fit into a box because he is God!!!
Another thing I learned is that God answers anybody who seeks Him. During SHIFT I was learning to listen to His voice and to recognize Him among other voices. I think this was the most important because I came to school to learn again how to spend time listening to him and it was worth of it. I was really encouraged as people were praying for me and sharing God's thoughts about me.
Financial Support
Leading the SHIFT School is a full-time ministry. We are praying that the Lord would continue to surround us with people committed to supporting this ministry with encouragement, prayers, and finances (our financial needs are posted above). We are currently only receiving 75% of what we need. Please ask the Lord how you can be a part of our ministry here in Minneapolis!
Thanks again for all of your prayers and support. This year’s SHIFT school was been such a testimony of God’s love for His children. You have been and are such an important part of the work the Lord is doing with us here in Minneapolis and the world!

Prayer Requests:
- Please pray for each of the students, (Dan, Corrie, Francisco, Michael, and Masha) that they would transfer into life after the SHIFT School smoothly, continuing to follow the Lord with the same passion they’ve had for the past three months.
- Continue to pray for our church, The Salvage Yard. Please pray that the Lord would give Noah and the rest of the elders wisdom as they lead the church.
- Pray for our monthly budget as full-time missionaries of $2000 to be met. This is needed in order for us to commit the time needed to lead the SHIFT and NightSHIFT Schools.
- Ask the Lord if you should commit to supporting us financially during the SHIFT School.
