Just in case you didn’t get the previous New Zealand up date, I have attached it for you at the botom. I have reason to think that some did not get it. Otherwise, here is the story of what the next step of faith looks like.

Bringing the Suitcase Sideshow, “Blessed are the Poor,” to the Rainbow Gathering has been on my heart for many years now. And in recent weeks I have began to see visions of stepping out after the show to speak God’s truth in love to hundreds of crusty punks in the woods. So while spending time seeking God for His direction on my life and the Suitcase Sideshow here at the New Zealand training school, a daunting task has been put before me.

Long ago I almost flippantly put out a fleece that if God wanted me to go on the rock opera tour with No Longer Music, and lift up the cross over Poland, Turkey, Lebanon, Crocia, Finland, Iceland and South Dakota, then it would take a miracle, but I would go. Well, last week the unexpected happened and now out of obedience to my word and all of God’s provision, that is what I have to do. But then I cried out “Jesus, what about the burning that YOU put in my heart for the Rainbow Gathering people?” And in prayer I heard Jesus comfort me and say, “I will complete what I have started, but it’s not about you. The Suitcase Sideshow has never been about you. I want you to equip and send your baby into the woods with 30,000 hippies and trust ME to use it without you.” So like Moses who brought the nation of Israel to the Promised Land but then released them to Joshua to finish the task at hand, or Abraham who released Isaac in his heart to the altar, I have been asked to allow God to show himself as powerful through the lives of others. I have been asked to send the Suitcase Sideshow to the Rainbow Gathering while going with NLM to run sound on the two-month evangelistic tour into Europe and the Middle East. As hard as it will be to let go and step into a new position, it is also humbling to discover God using me to bring people into a relationship with Him on two separate continents at the same time! My prayer is that God would be able to trust me with even more, so that I can only give it back to be multiplied again for His purposes!

Now in preparation for the tour with NLM, I still have to raise $1,500.00 US, which is nothing considering the cost. I would also like to bless the three individuals who will be bringing the Sideshow into the Rainbow Gathering, since it will cost them each $800.00. Join us with a tax-deductible donation as we give of our selves and our security in order to see people find Jesus in places where many dare not to go.

Dear friend,
As I struggled though customs to get home with my Suitcase Sideshow, having it already been called “one component shy of a bomb,” I sat on the plane in Auckland with two confiscated batteries and all the memories of what God had brought me through. Everything was completely worth it, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. All used to build my character and release me to be more effective in what I’ve been called to do.

The greatest highlight for me was discovering through the Steiger School how much I actually don’t trust God, and that I MUST learn to trust him even more if I’m going to be able to take the next step. This is the root of many problems like control, worry, and humility. I learned how to trust God when I went into sketchy places to share the Gospel a long time ago. But now trusting God with my life direction, future family ideas, and dreams is much deeper and harder. My human flaws were diffidently exposed so I can begin to work them out. I have rediscovered the mercy of God. It is a great privilege to be able to have an eternal effect of people’s lives, in spite of my poor human condition.

Other highlights with the Sideshow included partnering with the coolest New Zealanders and a friend from Minneapolis to do the show. We met and trained in New Zealand before doing the tour, and they brought a fuller picture of the body of Christ with them, unicycle and fire included. I also partnered with Rob and Millie, some new Steiger missionaries, and together with others we started a church for skate kids through all of them receiving Jesus from our outreaches. We have left them to be disciple with two other local workers. Other than that, my favorite show was at a local drug recovery retreat. There we stood and let go of our pride together aswe prayed to Jesus with native Maury drug dealers and ex-cons from opposing gangs. After which we sang karaoke andate with them as well. It was very surreal.
