We've been praying that God would ready us before we leave for this trip, and over and over again He has shown us His faithfulness. One lesson and step at a time, with just enough light to show us where to put the next foot. Whether it's been setting up the shows, or meeting individuals whom God has used to remind us of how serious to take this trip. We remember that there is no generational cruse, no amount of financial or spiritual bondage, and no amount of pain, or anything else here on earth, under the earth, or in the heavens that can separate us from Gods love which was shown to us by Jesus on the cross! That is our message. So here is my final news letter before we leave on June 24th for the L'abri Community in Rochester, Cornerstone festival, and then Europe. If you would like to keep up with us and learn how things are going, you can do so by visiting the tour web page or www.suitcasesideshow.org www.steiger.org About three years ago, God began to give me a heart for Eastern Europe, and even more specifically, the Roma people, otherwise known as Gypsies. A friend of mine had introduced me to a lady who had worked with them in Hungary. As she described their way of life to me, I felt God give me a love for them that would drive me for the next three years to find a way to bring the message of Jesus Christ to their little villages in a familiar way using theatre and puppets. Now, three years can be a long time to plan and wait, not knowing exactly how it will happen, but simply having faith that God will open the right doors when the time comes. I knew this wasn't my idea to even begin with. So often, we get cool ideas on our own, but only the test of time and miracles can show us whose idea it was in the first place, just as God proved that Nehemiah?s heart to rebuild the great city walls of Jerusalem was from Him. So over time I began to meet more and more folks who wanted me to bring the Suitcase Sideshow to their town in Europe. I also began to learn more about the story of the Roma people, from myth and folklore, to slavery, and up to today. And finally, after touring with 'No Longer Music' last summer, I ended the year by getting "The Story of Saul's Conversion" translated and recorded into Hungarian, Romanian, German, and Polish my own smaller version of "The Jesus Movie." I left Europe and began my three day journey back to the United States knowing that I would return soon, but also remembering how God had put His angels around me and before me, setting up every possible connection needed to get the translations that were necessary for this year?s tour. So this summer, a few friends and I will be backpacking across Europe with our marionettes. We will be connecting with many organizations in efforts to team up and use this show to bring Jesus to many parts of Europe. For example, with Calvary Chapel we will be touring with a construction crew as they build needed facilities in Roma villages throughout Hungary, Romania, and possibly the Ukraine. Then at night we will be doing the show for them all to see. In Poland, we will be visiting orphanages and squats, then helping with a workshop at their SLOT festival. In Switzerland we will be going into the poor spots of Bern and hanging out with the street kids. This tour is unlike anything I have ever taken on before, but as it was said earlier, it is God?s doing, not mine. So I can rest in Him knowing that wherever we go, He will be there guiding us every step of the way. Now join me in prayer as I take this step of faith in continuing what God has already started. Practically speaking though, I need at least $2,500 in travel, food, and lodging expenses to complete this tour. So if God is calling you to be apart of this and you would like to support it in prayer, as well as a donation, it would be much appreciated. I cannot do this without the help of the Body of Christ, and I am humbly grateful for any support you are able to provide. Thank you for all your prayers and support. God Bless you. Thank you for all your love and support towards us. God Bless, Philip Shorey
